On Sunday, April 13th, 2014, a group of 300 big hearted bikers hit the roads throughout the Tampa Bay area to raise money for local children’s charities. The bikers succeeded in this venture, raising $45,000 as they participated in the 10th Annual Credit Union Cruise for Kids Motorcycle Poker Run, sponsored by the Tampa Chapter of Credit Unions.

The bikers revved up their motorcycles at 10:00am that morning, making four “poker stops” at Brandon Harley, Parkesdale Farms, Doc's Pub & Grille, Neon Cowboy before ending the ride at the Quail Hollow in Wesley Chapel, FL. There, people turned out for a post-cruise celebration featuring live music by The Bobby Friss band, 50/50 raffle, bike contest, live auction and over 100 themed gift baskets. Ralph Landestoy won the grand prize, a $5,000 VISA gift card, sponsored by CU AutoBranch. Ralph bought his ticket from Rebecca at Florida West Coast Credit Union.

Over ten years, the Credit Union Cruise for Kids has distributed over $530,000 to local children’s charities. This year the recipients were Boys and Girls Club of Suncoast, Boys and Girls Club of Hernando, Boys and Girls Club of Tampa Bay, Pasco Kids First, Inc., Clothes to Kids, OASIS, Ronald McDonal House, For Every Child, Sylvia Thomas Center and All Children’s Hospital. “I want to thank our sponsors and everyone for their support,” said Janette McElwain, Credit Union Cruise For Kids Chairperson. “The money we raised is no easy task in this economy. This demonstrates the commitment our participants and sponsors have toward our event, and the causes we support.”
